The BDPA Twin Cities chapter was founded and chartered in 1989. The association develops, organizes and executes community youth programs, local networking events for professionals, adult training and development programs. They enjoy the support of the local business community both private and public. They also partner with other organizations to help make the Twin Cities community a global leader in technology expertise and talent. BDPA Twin Cities meets every 4rd Tuesday of the month. The meeting is free and open to all it includes an educational program as well as opportunities to network and learn from other industry professionals who are interested in technology.
BDPAs primary objective is to accumulate a pool of information technology knowledge and business expertise in order to:
- Support the interest of those exploring the IT field as a career or business opportunity.
- Provide a veichle for the development of minority skills and interests within the IT industry.
- Enhance awareness of the IT industry within the minority community in Twin Cities
BDPA-TWIN CITIES CHAPTER cultivates opportunities to ensure the technical and professional development of its members in the information technology field. The organizations main purpose is to be a positive influence on the industry's direction, to encourage the exploration of information technology as a career option, and to facilitate the advancement of information science knowledge throughout the community.
However, educational technical opportunities still reach the African American and other minority communities at a slow pace. Recognizing the need for accelerated action, BDPA-TWIN CITIES CHAPTER provides educational, technical, and training projects to the community and its members. BDPA-TWIN CITIES CHAPTER perceives itself as a catalyst for social change. As such, the association realizes that it is increasingly necessary to invest a greater portion of time and efforts in the under privileged communities of this information-age society. This is where you the BDPA membership come in.
